From September 15 to 16 the II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival will be held in Kok-tobe part. The Jury consisted of well-known figures of Kazakhstan cinema, about which we cannot but tell. After all, they have to evaluate the works of the contestants and choose the best and the brightest. Today we will talk about two wonderful directors: Akhat Ibrayev, who is also the Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Sharipa Urazbayeva, who won the I Baiqonyr Film Festival.

The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival is held with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.

Akhat Ibrayev is a multifaceted personality in the cinema. He not only directs, but also writes scripts and produces films.

The Bolashak Scholarship gave Akhat a chance to graduate from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Directing and Producing Films. Ibrayev in Kazakhstani cinema is called “Columbus”, he made the first film in the fantasy genre “Book of Legends: The Mysterious Forest”. The director’s track record does not end there; in his filmography, the successful series: “Taitalas”, “The Brainworms”, “Sanzhar and Kaisar”. It would seem that the director managed to work already in all cinematic genres. But he plans to give the audience an even greater number of different-sized projects, on the implementation of which he is working hard. A military drama about the Great Patriotic War “Flags over Berlin” is planned for the near future.

Young but hopeful girl-director Sharipa Urazbayeva this year joined the jury of the second Baiqonyr. Having won in 2016 with the film “Potato Eaters”, she has established herself as a craft professional, who looks only forward. This year she won the main prize at the Eurasia Sportlight pitching. Moreover, Sharipa tried herself as a producer of the short film "Mother" of the director Begaly Shibekeyev. The film has already participated in the Lucania Film Festival.

Urazbayeva plans to make a feature film and win Class A international film festivals.
