Non-competitive works of Baiqonyr Film Festival

On September 17 and 18, the I Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival will be held in Kok-Tobe Park. Within the framework of the festival there will be screenings of 38 competition and 7 non-competition works.

The non-competition programme includes films that have won awards at prestigious international film festivals. Many of the films were not previously presented in Kazakhstan, and the domestic audience will see them for the first time at the festival.

The Baiqonyr Film Festival will be opened by Askhat Kuchinchirekov's film “Out of gas”. The director 's debut work was recognized as the best in the category “Short Films of Asia and Africa” at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2013.

“Two Bicycles” (2006) directed by Katerina Suvorova, who won the prize of the Guild of Film Critics of Russia at the Kinoshok festival, the St. Anna National Prize, and the Robert Bosch Foundation Special Prize.

“Punchbot” (2012) by Rashid Suleimenov earned 13 awards at various international film festivals.

“Dove on the roof” (“Голудь на крыше”) (2012) directed by Olga Korotko took part in more than 30 film festivals and received a number of awards, including the Award of Excellence in the X Annual Accolade Competition in the United States.

“Ray of Morning Dawn” (2015) by Darkhan Tulegenov continues his march through international film festivals. Previously, the director’s work received the main prize of the first Kazakhstan film screening “Three Days of the Outcast” (“Три дня отверженных”) and the Grand Prix of the 5th IFF in Kyrgyzstan.

Alsoб the non-competition programьу included the film by Beibit Oner “On the other side” (“На другой стороне”), the animated film “Tastulek” by Maidan Turdybek and Tilek Toleugazy.
