The opening film of IV Baiqonyr ISFF will be a short film “Water”
In September 2019, the IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival will be held in Almaty at the Kinoplexx Sary Arka Cinema. The event will be held with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.
The film opening of the film festival will be a short film “Water” directed by Aizhan Kasymbek. Last year, the film became the best short film at the 5th Hanoi International Film Festival in Vietnam, and at the Monaco International film festival, the film won three categories at once: “Best Arthouse Film”, “Best Costume Designer Work”, “Best Music”.

The plot of the film tells the story of the old man Kasymysh, who does not want to let go of the past. Past years are becoming his reality. He returns to where he spent his childhood in order to again feel the happy moments of his life. But it’s time for Kasymych to decide: to say goodbye to the past forever or to remain completely in it.
The short film was worked on by scriptwriters Aizhan Kasymbek, Timur Nurdaulet, Yerbolat Yerzhanov, Alibek Amerzhanov, Ilya Gariyev, producer Diana Ashimova, camera operators Alibek Amerzhanov, Aigul Nurbulatova, Kuanysh Kurmanbayev, Raphael Abuzarov, Zhanbolat Adilbayev, composers Robert Ziganshin, Galizhan Dosmagambet, production designer Anastasia Ponomareva, sound designer Ilya Gariyev.

The roles in the short film were performed by Yerbolat Yerzhanov, Zere Gusman, Alexander Medvedev, Yerbolat Toguzakov and Alexander Kolovertnykh.
The General partner of IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is Kinoplexx Theaters, the Golden partner of the event is Visit Almaty, and the partner for postal services is Kazpost. The initiator is the Broadway movie portal.
