Baiqonyr ISFF: Participants of national contest

The acceptance of applications for participation in the Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival, which will be held for the third time with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, has ended.

This year, over 170 works were submitted to the national contest. But only the 22nd short films managed to get into the Baiqonyr ISFF programme. The selection was carried out by film experts Yerzhan Zhumabekov, Bekzhan Baigenzheyev and director Olzhas Isayev.

The national contest will be presented in two sections: “Live-action film” and “Documentary film”.

“This year, the contest of animated films, unfortunately, will not take place, since we have not received a sufficient number of applications for the formation of the section. In my opinion, this issue is worth paying attention to because the production of animated short films is in critical condition. And Baiqonyr confirms this fact,” said Yerzhan Zhumabekov, program director of the Baiqonyr film festival.

In the section “Documentary Films” will be shown:

“Meraki” - Aisha Salimgereyeva;

“The Lord” - Kamilla Berdimuratova;

“Island of Crimea” - Nadira Saduova;

“Khan's dances” - Rabiga Orynbasarova;

“Ravens” – Nurkadir Urіmkhan;

“Cardiac surgeon” - Nurali Shakirov and Arai Altayeva;

“Focus” - Zhadyra Zhumakulbaeva, Dias Balmaganbet.

“Paper helicopter” - Alisher Zhadigerov;

“Tango” - Inkar Karim;

“Yellow Dress” - Talgatbek Abishev;

“Brother” - Elaman Shaubanov;

“Status is not free” - Madi Balzhanov;

“Max” - Azamat Shargin;

“With diploma to the village” - Samgar Rakhim;

“177” - Zharkyn Tleukhor;

“Low” - Asylbek Musabekov;

“Quiet” - Nurmakhan Telzhan, Erdauletov Temirlan;

“The Follower” - Temirlan Arisbayev;

“Masa” - Nurbol Yurboluly;

“Fertilizer” - Myrza Baysambekov;

“Guilt” - Armat Telmanov.

Baiqonyr ISFF will be held from September 4 to 8, 2019 at the Kinoplexx Sary Arka cinema.

The General partner of IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is Kinoplexx Theaters, the Golden partner of the event is Visit Almaty and Tourism Department of Almaty, the partner for postal services is Kazpost. The initiator is the Broadway movie portal.
