The dates of the V BAIQONYR International short film festival have been postponed.

The festival will be held from 9 to 13 September

This year BISFF consists of five programs:
• Main competition (fiction international short films)
• National competition (fiction, documentary, animated short films)
• Special competition of music videos of Turkic peoples (for clip makers)
• Script pitching
• Master classes, workshops and round tables

The prize fund of V Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is $27000.

Short fiction films made in 2019-2020 by directors and/or producers of Turkic peoples technically suitable for showing in a cinema are invited to participate in the main competition. The duration of the films is up to 30 minutes.
Short fiction films, documentaries, animated films made in 2019-2020 by Kazakhstan directors and/or producers, films technically suitable for showing in a cinema are invited to participate in the national competition. The duration of the films is up to 30 minutes.

Music videos made in 2019-2020 by directors and/or producers of Turkic peoples that are technically suitable for showing in a cinema are invited to participate in the special competition of Turkic peoples' music video.

Applications from filmmakers of Kazakhstan under 35 years old are accepted for script pitching. Scripts are accepted in Kazakh and Russian languages. It is allowed to submit not more than one application from one or a group of scriptwriters. The works will be considered in the category “Fiction short films” – scripts of short fiction films with a duration of up to 30 minutes.

If a film is selected for the festival, the film must be subtitled in English. For films in national competition, the partner of the Festival KANTAI Enterprise offers assistance in English translation and subtitling.
