Applications are open for V Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival
The V Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival starts accepting applications for participation in the festival. Registration of participants in the main contest will last until July 1, 2020. Deadline for those wishing to take part in the pitching of scripts, national and music contest - August 1, 2020. The event itself will be held from September 2 to 6, 2020.
This year BISFF consists of 5 programmes:
- Main Contest (Live-action International Short Film)
- National contest (live-action, documentary, animated short films)
- Special contest of musical video of Turkic peoples (for clip makers)
- Script pitching
- Workshops, workshops and round tables
The prize fund of the V Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is $ 28,000.
Short live-action films shot in 2019-2020 by directors and / or producers of Turkic peoples who are technically suitable for showing films lasting up to 30 minutes in cinema are invited to participate in the main contest.
Short live-action, documentary, and animated films shot in 2019-2020 by Kazakhstani directors and / or Kazakhstani producers, technically suitable for films in the cinema for up to 30 minutes, are invited to participate in the national contest.
Music videos shot in 2019-2020 by directors and / or producers of Turkic peoples who are technically suitable for showing in a cinema are invited to participate in a special competition of music videos of Turkic peoples.
Applications from cinematographers of Kazakhstan under the age of 35 are accepted to participate in the pitching of scripts. Scripts are accepted in Kazakh and Russian. It is allowed to submit no more than one application from one or a group of scriptwriters. The works will be considered in the category “Short live-action films” - scripts of short fiction films with a duration of up to 30 minutes.
In the case of selecting a film for the festival, it is necessary to provide a film with subtitles in English. For films that entered the national contest, the Festival Partner KANTAI Enterprise offers assistance in translating into English and creating subtitles for the film.
Applications for participation in the Baiqonyr ISFF are accepted on the official website of the film festival (baiqonyr.kz).
