Applications for participation in the II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival are open
Applications for participation in the II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival are open. Applications are accepted from June 15 to August 15, 2017 on the official website of the film festival Baikonur.brod.kz.
The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival is held with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.
Short films made in 2016 and 2017 with a maximum length of 30 minutes are allowed to participate. The works are considered in three areas: live-action, documentary and animated films. Applications can only be submitted by citizens of Kazakhstan. There is no age limit for applicants. Films that participated in the I Baiqonyr Film Festival will not be accepted this year.
The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival will be held on September 15 and 16 in Kok-Tobe recreation park. This year, a new nomination for “Best Production Designer” has been added. Another innovation of the film festival is the special programme “Kazakhstan Premiere”, which will be held before the award ceremony.
The applicants' works will make the cut, the results of which will be announced to the contestants. Films included in the competition programme will be evaluated by the Jury, which will include representatives of international film festivals, FIPRESCI, NETPAC and the guild of film critics of Russia. The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, director and producer Akhat Ibrayev, the president of the Bastau International Film Festival, the director and producer Sergei Azimov, the head of the animation workshop of the Kazakhfilm film studio Zhaken Danenov and the head of Debut Creative Production Association of the Kazakhfilm film studio Anar Kashaganova are also invited as jury members.
The film festival initiator is the Broadway professional movie portal.
The official partners of the contest are the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan-the Leader of the Nation, Rocket company, Tengrinews.kz, Khabar Agency, Nedelka city cafe, Turan University, Kok-Tobe Park, Let's go.
