10 best works of the contest “Make a film in 48 hours” will be  screened at Baiqonyr - 2017

The non-competition programme of the II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival, held with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, will screen the top 10 films of the contest “Make a film in 48 hours”. The films will be presented by the contest initiator, representative of the US Consulate in Almaty Banu Burina and contest operator Nariman Abiyev. Screening of non-competition films will take place on September 15 at 20:50 at Kok-Tobe Recreation Park (marquee).

Outside the competition, three films will also be shown: “Mother” by Begaly Shibekeyev, “Clay-Love” by Aigul Aksambiyeva and “The dog” by Meirzhan Sandybay.

The short film contest “Make a film in 48 Hours” was held in February 2017. Independent directors and creative teams from Kazakhstan, the USA, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, China, Lithuania and India expressed their desire to take part. In total 320 films shot in various genres were sent: comedy, noir, horror, art house, thriller and melodrama. The project was implemented with the support of the US diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan.

The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival starts on September 15th. As part of the screening, viewers will see 48 competitive and non-competitive films.
