II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival extends the application deadline
The management of the II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival extends the applications deadline until August 20 inclusive. Those who wish to take part in the contest can submit applications on the official website of the festival Baikonur.brod.kz.
The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival is held with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.
Short films of 2016-2017 of any genres, the timing of which does not exceed 30 minutes, are allowed to participate in the film screening. Films that participated in last year's Baiqonyr Film Festival will not be accepted this year.
All participating films will be presented in three categories: live-action, documentary and animated films. The contestants will be evaluated by an expert jury composed of the Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan Akhat Ibrayev, the president of the Bastau International Film Festival, director and producer Sergey Azimov, the head of the animation workshop of the Kazakhfilm film studio Zhaken Danenov, the head of Debut Creative Production Association Anar Kashaganova and the winner of the first Baiqonyr Sharipa Urazbayeva.
Winners will be determined in the following nominations: “The Grand Prix”, “Best Director”, “Best Cinema operator”, “Best Production Designer”, “Best Script”, “Best Experimental Film”, “Best Documentary film”, “Best Animated film”, “Best Actress”, “Best Actor” and “Special Jury Prize”.
The II Baiqonyr Republican Short Film Festival starts on September 15 in the recreation park of Kok-Tobe. Over two days, the guests of the event will be presented films of Kazakhstani filmmakers.
The first film festival was held in 2016. The main goal pursued by the competition is to become a launching pad for young talents and discover new names in domestic cinema. The main initiator of the event is the Broadway professional movie portal.
