Baiqonyr SFF-2018: the programme of the festival
The program of the III Baiqonyr Short Film Festival, which will be held from September 20 to 23 in Almaty at Kinoplexx Sary Arka, has been announced. Within a few days, guests of the festival will be introduced to short works of domestic Directors of live-action, documentary and animated films.
The film “The end of the season” by Zhannat Alshanova will open the Baiqonyr Short Film Festival. The film was previously presented in the Cinefondation short film contest at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. After the opening, a special screening of the film “July” by Darezhan Omirbayev will take place. this year the film will be 30 years old.
The competition programme of the festival includes 47 works. The live-action film section includes 27 films, animation-11 and documentary-9 films. Evenings of Kyrgyz and Uzbek cinema will be held as part of non-competition screenings. The audience will be shown the best short films of the two countries.
The winners of the festival will be determined by director and producer Nurtas Adambay, actress Aruzhan Dzhazilbekova, producer, actress Bayan Alaguzova, Chairman of the Council of Young Filmmakers of Uzbekistan Oybek Abdushukurov, sound designer Denis Konoplev, director Baimurat Zhumanov, director and scripwriter Adai Abeldinov, documentary director Katerina Suvorova and production designer Yana Tyulkina.
The Commission will be headed by film critic, FIPRESCI and NETPAC member Gulbara Tolomushova.
Interesting and useful master classes are also waiting for the guests of the festival: “Cinematography” from the Director of photography of the film “Affectionate indifference of the world” by Aidar Sharipov and “Copyright in cinema” by Temirlan Tulegenov.
Screenings and all events of Baiqonyr SFF-2018 will be held at the Kinoplexx Saryarka cinema (Altynsarin st, 24A). Entrance is free.
